Shannon—also known on stage as Wisteria LeWicked—is a molecular research scientist at Colorado State University’s Flint Animal Cancer Center and the Vice President of Meadowlark Performing Arts. She holds a B.S. in Biology from Texas Woman’s University (2015), ASCP Board Certification in Molecular Biology (2019), an M.Ag. in Soil and Environmental Science from Auburn University (2020), and a certificate in Secondary Science Education from the University of Wyoming (2023).
Shannon specializes in high-complexity molecular testing, leveraging advanced assays and molecular data to better understand the tumor microenvironment. Her work aims to drive more effective cancer treatments for both animals and humans. She previously spent years in molecular diagnostics, helping physicians interpret gene mutations and cancer drivers to design personalized therapies. Her scientific curiosity extends outdoors as well—her ecological molecular work has contributed to a deeper understanding of soil microbiomes and their influence on environmental systems.
As a passionate science educator and communicator, Shannon has been actively involved in Laramie based outreach programs such as COPSE, SRAP, and InnovateHer, bringing hands-on science, mentorship, and community engagement to students, teachers, and the public. Through these initiatives, she has supported STEM discourse, taught research skills from fieldwork to coding, and empowered young women to pursue science.
Her strengths in organization, planning, and leadership—sharpened through years of scientific work—now help shape her role at Meadowlark Performing Arts. Outside the lab, Shannon is a dedicated creative who dances, sings, paints, draws, choreographs, and performs. She is passionate about bringing joy, artistry, and meaningful experiences to the Wyoming community. Though now living in NoCo, she remains deeply connected to Laramie, a place she proudly calls one of the best communities around.
